After the clay was set and dried we painted our models. If we wanted our work shiny, we applied a thick white liquid which when put in the oven, turned the clay shiny. These were my finished pieces

In the Ceramics workshop we based out work on our Nature project which we are studying in other lessons. We had to produce several buttons with different patterns and designs on then afterwards we produced 2 tiles inspired by nature. First of all we had to cut a lump of clay off using a very thin file and role it out till it was flat and even with a rolling pin. We used different cutting tools e.g. knife and tools tp blend the clay together to make it smooth. I used a square shape piece of card and cut around it to make my tile. I then used the cutting tool to cut out the shapes I wanted to add to the tiles. To stick the clay together I delicately cut the back of the clay several times and the same on the other piece of the clay I was sticking it to. I then used a paint brush covered in water and just painted on the back of the cut area on each piece of clay and pressed them together. After I had made my design and stuck each piece on I left the clay to set and ready to be put in the kiln to make into a pot tile. When the clay is set it will then be glazed till shiny and then ready to paint. Each design placed on the tile was cut by hand and then worked into with a small knife to produce the pattern I wanted. Each piece took about an hour each and after I had finished I used a plastic spoon like object to smooth my tile/button down so there was no jagged bits.
